The Art of Ritual (AoR) class is formed around the belief that anyone can, with dedication, learn the basics of witchcraft within a year, and then spend the rest of their lifetime deepening and expanding their knowledge. Every module in the AoR class consists of readings, exercises, discussion questions and at least one live class held on Zoom. There are also bonus materials provided for those that wish to dive in deeper within each module.

The AoR class year is divided into two sections, the first section consists of 13 two week long modules that concentrate on the essentials of witchcraft. The second section consists of modules of varying lengths that go into more specific witchcraft practices and interests. The second section may not be the same from year to year as it is dependent on student interests as well as teacher and guest speaker availability.

Alongside the curriculum and Zoom lessons we also engage in live rituals via Zoom for each of the eight Sabbats (aka the Wheel of the Year) as well as every full moon, starting in December. These rituals are led by JaguarMoon coven members, though students are encouraged to step forward and take a variety of speaking roles throughout the year. AoR students will receive the full ritual text and relevant information many days prior to the actual ritual, as well as the chance to discuss questions or concerns prior to each ritual. These rituals are an invaluable part of the AoR year as they provide the opportunity to experience working with energies in a group setting.

We strive to create an inclusive environment within the AoR class and as such do not tolerate intolerance. As well, when possible to try and remove barriers to student engagement. Each student is matched with a JaguarMoon coven member with whom they will check in with on a regular basis. This allows people who may be shy in larger groups a point of contact with whom they can work directly if they have any questions during any part of their class year. We strive to diversify our modules in an effort to reach all types of learners. However, as this is a class for adults and students start off as strangers there is the expectation that students will advocate for themselves, we can’t help if we don’t know there is a problem.

The schedule of rituals and zoom classes is posted at the beginning of the year to allow early resolution for any scheduling conflicts. Generally, you can expect to have two Zoom classes and 1-2 rituals each month. Each Zoom class, unless otherwise indicated, will be recorded for those that are unable to attend or wish to go back and hear the discussions again. Zoom classes run for 60 minutes and while rituals tend to be a fair bit shorter we encourage you to set aside 60 minutes for each ritual as well to allow for reflection, grounding, and journaling. We feel that for students to get the most from the AoR curriculum, that a minimum attendance rate of 80% is ideal. Attendance of rituals is especially important as they are the “Craft” part of Witchcraft. This means that students should expect to spend an average of 1-2 hours each week between readings, exercises, lesson questions, classes and rituals.

We recognize that we are all adults, and we have busy lives; the class has flexibility to accommodate students who need a break, or are unable to continue with the plan. We also are aware that the virtual environment is not for everyone. To that end, students who leave before the end of November will receive a partial refund. If a student departs after November, no refund is provided but a place is held in future classes for the student if they wish to return and take up their learning once again. Students that complete the AoR year can comfortably go on to other endeavors, either solitary work or joining a Tradition or group, knowing they were trained well in the basics of the Craft.

The Art of Ritual year begins on November 1, and continues through to October 31 where we end with a combined Samhain and Farewell ritual. We prefer payment in full prior to class beginning however, we never want money, or lack of, to stand in the way of someone's spiritual practice. As such we are flexible and may be able to accommodate various payment plans as well as other non-monetary arrangements. Payment for the entire year is $120 USD.
